Do the whole series, or choose one or two sessions.
The middle school years are foundational to high school. This time represents the optimal point for students to discover their strengths, develop and refine strong study habits, and build communication skills. Our workshops address these important foundational skills by providing high-impact strategies students can apply right away to their classes and lives. The goal is to empower students with the tools they need to hit the ground running at the start of high school.
This group of three workshops can be completed as a series or students can complete just one or two of the individual sessions. Each workshop will provide strategies, information on why the strategies are effective, opportunities for reflection, and a personal follow up as an accountability measure. It will be taught by Jill Personius, a middle school self discovery specialist for Guru Academic Advising. She has many years of counseling experience, assisting students with thinking critically about their habits, digging deep into their interests, and tapping into the things that make them most unique.
Who can attend? This is designed for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.
When are the workshops?
Session 1 - Organization: September 28th from 9 - 11am
Session 2 - Strength Finding: October 12th from 9 - 11am
Session 3 - Communication: October 26th from 9 - 11am
Where will it be? We will be in Classroom 227 at Midwestern State University, Flower Mound campus.
What does it cost? $59 for each session; $149 if signing up for all three (invoice will be sent via email within 24 hours of filling out the form below). Students who complete the workshops have the option of doing a one on one follow up session with Jill two weeks after each session to check progress and use of strategies.
What students are saying about the workshops: "The things I learned at your workshop were very helpful. Studying my notes has been more efficient ever since I have been taking them in a way that works for me. Knowing and reorganizing my backpack has made my life less stressful. Now that I plan ahead, the amount of late night stress because something is due has decreased tremendously. Using an agenda and writing what I have to do down has allowed me to have a clear view on what I have to do. Thank you again!" Naomi O.
"I had a great week! My grades are better than ever! The organizational workshop has helped me so much, especially the to do list. I am much more on top of my school work now." Charlotte K.
