Why Should I Use a College Planner?
Here's the truth: you CAN absolutely get into college without a planner--people do it all the time (we like to keep it real. No fear mongering here). BUT there are a ton of perks that come with using a planner. Allow me to elaborate:
- Less stress, better results. It's not just our credo, it's truth. Applying to college is among the most stressful things you will do in your high school career (or with your high schooler, for the moms and dads out there). Using a planner alleviates a lot of that stress because you have someone devoted to exclusively monitoring progress toward the day when you open that acceptance packet. You have enough to take care of, leave the college stuff to us.
- One-to-one planning. We work with you and deliver individualized services to meet your needs. Come sit in our office and talk about what you want in a college: your skills, your interests, your need for scholarships. Let us listen then respond with information tailor-made to help YOU. There are thousands of colleges out there, and we can help you find the one with your name all over it.
- Guidance from start to finish. We begin working with you from the moment the word "college" crosses your brain (usually sophomore year) and keep working with you until May of your senior year. This means we help you get everything taken care of, including scholarship searches before and after admission. If you have a question concerning anything (well, most anything) related to college, that's our specialty, and we will see you through it.
Why Guru?
Good question! The counselors at Guru are good at what they do--like, really good. Erika, Guru's founder and lead advisor, is not only a former admissions officer, but also a former high school teacher, so she "gets it" and "gets you". She's designed a dynamic and efficient college planning curriculum leveraging her past experience. The fabulous ladies of Guru are easy to work with and will help you turn college admissions into something as fun as it can possibly be. Here at Guru, we have been there, done that, rocked it, and we are passionate about the power of higher education. Let us help you get there.
