College Essay Workshops
Writing noteworthy essays for college is one of the most important components of the application process. The essay is an opportunity to showcase your unique qualities, while making a meaningful connection with the college admission committee. The personal narrative is often a new form of writing for high school students and can be intimidating or confusing. Practice and professional instruction can help students create exceptional essays.
This three-day workshop will help students understand the essay in context of the application, and lead them through the process of brainstorming content, drafting, editing, and refining. Sessions will be taught by Sarah Colliflower and Linda Kern, both of whom are master level college counselors for Guru Academic Advising. Each has many years of admissions counseling experience, assisting students with telling stories that earned them admission into some of the most selective colleges in the nation.
***In past years, sessions have filled quickly. We are limiting these workshops to ten students, and will space out within the classroom which is designed to hold 30 students***
Who can attend? This is designed with rising senior students headed into the college application process in mind, but rising sophomores and juniors are welcome, too – younger students will benefit from learning to write in this narrative style and can use the essays they compose to start the process of applying to outside merit-based scholarships. Rising seniors will draft an essay that can be used on their upcoming college applications.

it interesting. Thank you!!!!"
